A lovely example of a Victorian tortoiseshell and silver mounted tea caddy.

 

Of rectangular form, the body applied with pierced hallmarked silver plaque, "Tea" in Gothic style script, the detachable silver cap, which also doubles as a loose-leaf tea measure, also fully hallmarked.

All component pieces of silver fully hallmarked - the exterior of the silver cap, the silver collar mounted to the base of the caddy to take the cap and the pierced plaque.

 

Dimensions:

Height (base to top of cap): 9.2cm.

Height (of body): 6.5cm

Width: 6.3cm.

Length: 5.1cm.

 

Condition:

Crucially the tortoiseshell remains in excellent condition, with no cracks, chips or losses. The silver with some age-related wear as is expected. A lovely example.
